Project Information

This is an entry table that is my wife's first project. Several folks asked to see it and I finally got her talked into letting me post pictures of it. The slab of pecan started out looking like a surf board so she had to cut both ends of it off and attempt to make it look like it had not been cut. Then she had to finish the edges to give it an "aged" look. After much sanding and preping she was then able to finish it out with Tung oil. The board was then attached to an old Singer sewing machine base. I think it turned out really good and I'm quite proud of her.

Thanks for looking,
Shane

Thanks to all who have taken a look and for all the compliments. I have passed them on to Julie and she listens with a big smile on her face.

This is really cool and reminds me of some of the stuff you see in those retro/euro/chic stores along Park Ave in NYC or Michigan in Chicago. This would sell really well. Great idea with the Singer base and the top is so interesting to look at. Did you happen to have that base just laying around or did you find it somewhere? Was any restoration done on the base because it looks new.

Hey Shannon, thanks for the compliments. The base came from the same 70 year old man that we buy our lumber from. He goes to a huge flea market in E. Texas called "First Monday", he found several of the old Singer sewing machine bases and Julie saw them under his car port. She talked him into selling one to her. Julie chose one that she did not have to restore so the base itself was in good condition.

Thanks again,
Shane
