Project Information

This is a plan from Glen Huey I modified the plan a bit but the size was exactly what the client wanted made from black eastern walnut they came out just like the client wanted the plan had molding over the dovetails and the client did not want the dovetails covered I agreed that the simpler look was better. The panels were raised on the table saw hinge placement was per the plan and done the way the customer wanted They will be mounted to the wall using a french cleat. The pair of these took about 25 hours to make including the finishing.

The finish was BLO 2 coats and then 5 coats of Ruby Shellac We applied the BLO and then let them dry for 48 hours then we sprayed the finish using the new T series HVLP gun from FUJI The customer was very pleased with the look I will defiantly use the Ruby Shellac on walnut again it looks very rich and made the grain pop. I do hope you like the design It is found in the book on 18th century furniture from Glen Huey

Very good!

Glen likes the fancy frills… Beautiful job…

A picture of the front with the doors open would have been nice…

COOL job & project!

Thank you!

I never did see if you finished those workbenches you were working on (some time ago)...

Take care…

Very nice work. Now you must be down to five projects. Work on getting to that two. Haha.

I'm a walnut fan. From what I can see you did well in finishing this project. Most important. "A happy customer!"

The secret to my finishing is to use simple finishes the old school stuff like shellac blo tong oil danish oil and lacquer on this was blo and shellac. Secret no2 is to use the best spray equipment made and that is simply Fuji there is no substitute for the turbine hvlp system. I have the q 3 system and a couple of guns including the new T series gun it is miles ahead of my older gun but they are both very good. That and practice with the gun are enough to make anyone with the basic knowledge of spraying competent at finishing .
