Project Information

Simple magnetic jointer height adjustment jig. The magnets are available at Radio Shack for a grand total of $2.99 for a bag of 10. Baltic birch plywood and marine silicone sealer / adhesive to stick the magnets. Stick the magnets to your jointer table and line them up. Put some adhesive on top of each magnet and then stick the plywood to the adhesive. Let them stay there all night to dry, do not touch them until they do. After that, simply put your jointer blade into the slot, rotate it to it's highest point in the arc, pull the magnets over the top of each end from the OUTFEED side of the table to hold the blade at the correct height. NOT SHOWN - make sure to snug the blade adjuster / supports up to the bottom of the jointer knife BEFORE you tighten the wedge screws or they might pull the blades down lower than they should be. IE you need to trap the blade between the magnet and supports before you tighten everything down.
