Project Information

I finally set aside a day to build my daughter's crib. Only took 10 months to find 1 free day! This crib converts to a toddler bed, then full size bed. The wood is ponderosa pine from the Black Forest Burn that destroyed over 500 homes last year. The center T&G panel as shaped to form an "A" for my daughter Aspen. Felt good to build her something starting from tree to finished product. Finish is danish oil and poly.

what a beautiful job, such a sweet baby, looks like you have plenty of wood to cut down, are you allowed to cut just so much or how does it work, a really great looking bed, she will love it for a long time.

That is one messy way to get the trees, that black goes a long way and all over everything. Do you try to
leave the bark in the woods to keep the mess out of your shop, or will they let you? That beautiful little
lady seems to be thinking that the crib may not be able to confine her for long. Great looking crib, and I
like that double slant on the T&G face that really personallizes it. Thank you for sharing.

Great job! Your "customer" appears very pleased!
Those cribs that grow into beds are a great idea.
Sawing burned trees looks like dirty work!

Rocky, I see you doing some wedge magic there. I got my A level sawyer training last summer in Salida and my evaluator said he never saw anyone whack at (and utterly destroy) wedges so hard while trying to bring down a tree. But hey, it worked. And it fell right where I wanted. How do you get your hands on fire damaged wood here in CO?
