Some time ago I bought a dial indicator and a magnetic tower to hold it. This was among other things for a major table saw tune up. Loved the dial indicator and hated the tower.
I made the jig below that fits in the miter slot, for adjusting the blade.
Then the tower broke and needing some very precise cuts, I wanted to use the indicator for getting the rips very accurate, I came up with this thingy.

oldnovice: Say you want to cut stock .75 in. Cut the stock a tad over size. Measure it say .79. Then put the dial indicator against the fence and then move the fence .04 in. Works like a charm. The on/off magnet holds everything in place.

You can also set your fence against the blade, zero the DI, then move the fence; assuming your DI has enough travel for the cut. I rarely need to cut anything so accurately but it would be nice to have for those times.

Ok, the dimensions clearly weren't a tell of any sort. The two radii cut at the base of the clamping arms for the indicator were there for the reason I suspected. Very cool, and no doubt much cheaper than anything from Starrett.
