Project Information
It's ridiculous what you can find in those old pallet boards if you look hard enough…
The finished piece is my variation on the upper cabinet to a King George Bureau from around 1765.
It is solid oak throughout.
It involved a lot of nail & staple pulling, milling, tons of glue ups and hours of sanding and shaping, plus lathe work and so on.
But it's a labor of love and I think it came out ok.
The finished dimensions are approximately 10"D X 13 1/2"H X 28 1/2"W
The finish includes Minwax Honey stain, Shellac, Polyurethane and finishing wax.
I've added some process shots below.
Thanks for looking and have a great day.
Cleaning the stock
Finally some usable stock…lol
Pallet wood involves TONS of glue-ups
The neighborhood gang passed through one day and visited a while.
Case ready for glue up.
Getting there.
Drawer parts made.
Drawers fitted.
Tongue & groove back boards milled and fitted.
Another rather large shop visitor.
He didn't move much so I let him stay.
Center compartment column turned & split for sentinel feature.
Compartment built and prepared for fitting.
Naturally, you can't have a compartment unless you include a secret space.
Completely hidden and accessed by hidden release.
There is another as well; not shown.
(I'm trusting you, my Lumberjock pals to keep it secret…lol)
Thanks again.
