Project Information

Hey everyone, so I have seen these around a few times and always thought it would be nice to have one but they where all made for the iphone and where always listed for 200+. So I decided to build one for myself. So the real challenge was finding the horn for cheap, then my uncle mentioned he had a horn he didn't want or need and said I can have it for free. I love the look of the old horn…gives it a real old meets new look.

The wood was given to me from a scrap pile at a local lumber mill, something I couldn't believe…throwing away curly walnut…total sin!!

so for the price of free I can't complain. Hope everyone enjoys!

This is very nice. Were you able to locate any other source for a horn before you got the free one. Thanks for sharing.

i wanted to make some of those too but I was never able to find any horns at a decent price. They're pretty common on Ebay if you're willing to pay for them though.

My son has a friend who wanted me to make one of these for him but I couldn't figure out the horn.

I never did find a good resource for the horns. Anything on ebay was way too high. The only thing i could find (but still pricy) was on amazon. It was a replica gramophone and can be found here

Yeah it really isn't a complicated item, quite simple in fact but it is really neat. The sound it great and takes no extra power. Thanks everyone for the positive feedback!

Those PRV Audio WG 14-25 exponential horns look like a very good idea I may buy 1 or 2 and try it. At that price it's not a loss of money. MIKE

Very cool build, like the look of the old horn and your walnut is gorgeous. Great job!
