Those are really great looking boxes! I love your use of the medalion in the tops!

Which leads me to a question: how did you drill out the recess for them, how did you glue them in, and how did you finish them? (Ok, that's 3 questions…..) The reason I as is, I'm thinking of making a box with a sand dollar in the top, so I wanted to know that information. Also, I'd like the sand dollar visible from the bottom of the top (when the box is open), but that may be beyond your experience with your boxes here.

Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Hey Mean_dean
The recess is drilled with a forstner bit, but a circle cutter or hole saw would work also.
For adhesive, I got a little overly creative…used too kinds of glue.

E6000 which is flexible one part epoxy type glue and Thick CA glue on a small separate place. The CA glue sets up in a couple minutes and e6000 in an hour… CA glue acts like a clamp for the e6000

Finish on the boxes is Rustoleum spray laquear. Drys fast.

Thanks for the info! I thought it would be some sort of epoxy. I've just got to get figured out how to make the sand dollar visible from both sides of the lid, but I think I'll start a forum topic, so as not to divert attention from the topic of your blog.

Thanks again,
