Project Information
Hello friends,Happy New Year for everybody.
At this time I would like to share an idea I had and made reality.
Sometimes we need to use our Forstener bits for European hinges and we are far from a good quality bench drill or the job doesn't permit this use and we need to do the hole using a portable drill machine.
I made for use at hinge services but any size can be done and other Jobs wich controled deep is needed.
Works as precise as possible (not NASA tolerances of course) but precise because the stop works at rotative way and need do be equilibrate as a car wheel to avoid vibration.
I made the tool using a holesaw and a bench drill.Any wood scrap will work.I choose good quality wood because in Brazil I can find many at "garbage".
First I made the round part using a holesaw.Ready for sand
A dowel give you back the wood for the next step
Using a 35 mm Forstener bit I made a hole deep enough to fit the entire height of bit
Change the position of dowel to do the next hole at back
This small hole fits the neck to lock the stop at bit shank.Use the dowel for centering perfect during glue time
Finished and ready to use
The carpet protect workpiece from scratches
You can use small bits too.In this case a 26 mm bit (very popular hinge size in Brazil)
Thanks for attention
