Project Information

I got my initial inspiration for this sandpaper dispenser from Carl Jacobson watching his great videos shot in his home workshop. I wanted to add on a way to easily cut off the sandpaper so I included an old hack saw blade running across the top and put a washer underneath each side with the screws to allow a small gap for the sandpaper to feed through. I also made the dowel slip through the carcass on both sides. I turned the end caps, with one being held in place by a small brass brad permanently and the other end used to take off and add on new rolls was screwed into place with two threaded inserts and threaded rod.

In the last picture I created a holder for my box of rags and paper towels…both the sandpaper dispenser and the rag/towel holder are located right above the head stock of my lathe within easy reach. The box of rags slides in and out from the left side and is held in place firmly on 5 of the 6 sides so I can give a good yank on it and all is stable.

Nothing spectacularly pretty about these, but they both work great! So much more to do trying to put the shop together, I'll post some shop pictures this Winter when I make more of a dent into the shop layout and get things off of the floor.

Very handy. That's the kind of thong desperately needed in the shop.
