Project Information

Here it is. My first "real" project (not a garage fixture and not a tool accessory). Also my first pallet project. I have no idea what kind of wood is on this but I do know that whatever the legs are likes to tear rather than cut or sand no matter what direction i chose.
It's just a simple little bedside table. the legs are tapered slightly on all 4 sides starting about 8" from the top. The top supports are inset roughly 1/8" and secured with pocket screws. This got interesting once I tried to put the sides together as the inside is only 8" wide…
I attached the top to the runners with screws as well.
It still needs some sanding and a finish but, overall, not too bad for a first attempt.

This table is perfect for the size and good use of pallet wood
The wide grain and the tear out makes me think it's a softwood - if the pallet could be carried with one hand it is probably so.
Cheers

Yes, it definitely could. If I had to guess, most likely fir. I've worked pine before and it didn't behave like this stuff did. Still trying to decide what kind of finish to put on it. Looks good in my room already. :)
