Project Information

The bits and caddies are from a Ryobi set like the one shown, though that's a Google image I borrowed. I got a good closeout price on the set but I needed a case that would get tossed around on jobsites, so I threw this one together in about 20 minutes. Construction is your typical hollow block and cut the top off, and a beveled lip applied to the inside. The wood is Mahogany (1/4"?) that was scrap from a job.

As for the bits, they're surprisingly good for the brand. :)

Thanks Jim, it was just a spur of the moment out of necessity kind of thing, and the mahogany was dumpster bound.

Thats a great router bit storage box, beats the scrap 2×4 I drilled some holes. I may steal this idea :)

Nice. Just picked up a few Ryobi bits myself, and they will need a home….I like wood boxes in the shop, they are durable and convenient.

Martyroc, I've done that too! ;)

Then again, could always make a box for the 2X4.

Beautiful box, especially given the contents. I've had bad luck with Ryobi bits, two out of three I bought had to be returned because they were "raggedy" on the edges. I'm using Diablos now and am very happy with them.

Dreek, the Ryobi bits are mostly for hack work, such as shaping deck stairs and handrails, trim that will be painted, stuff like that. I have a small assortment of higher quality bits that I use for woodworking. The carbide is about twice as thick as the Ryobi, and I'm sure it's a higher quality steel.
