Great choice of wood. At 13" long are you using it as a jack(cambered) or smoother.

It has a straight iron in it now, but I would use it as a jack. I was getting .002 thickness shavings with it. I just haven't taken the time to camber the iron.

I wanted to try my hand at a Japanese style pull plane so I set the iron way back on this one. I have no experience making them, but figured I had to start somewhere.

All you plane makers are awesome!! I've been watching(lurking) for the past couple of days and to be honest I'm simply astounded by the craftsmanship. It really wants to make me try my hand at making a plane for my self. Maybe a low angle shoulder plane.
