Project Information
Last show I was at a customer asked for a recipe box, unfortunately I didn't have one so I built two for this coming weekends show, the first box Is made from Alder and the second one is made from Red Oak and Walnut.
The Alder box, the hinges are store bought box store brand, I placed these hinges tied up on a string at the top of the air tight concealed jelly jar with ammonia for a few months only I forgot to put the screws in there non the less it turned from the brass color to the black as I wanted.
The Oak box I custom made these hinges from Walnut, they measure 3/4" wide by 1 1/2" long with a single dowel pin in each part using 1/4" finger joint bit, these hinges are quite small but I think they compliment the box well. Both boxes are sized to house 4" x 6" recipe cards along with the divider tabs, they are finished in tung oil, shellac, wipe on poly and paste wax.
Thanks for looking and comments are always enjoyed reading.
