Project Information

Been trying to build a Thunderbird bowl for a while- and saw on line a guide on how to do one - ala Jim Rogers . This bowl is approx. 10 in. in dia by 7 inches high. Made of Tiger Maple, So. Amer. Rosewood, and Cherry. Hope you like it. Oh it was purchased by a friend whose Son and Daughter in law have a fishing/hunting lodge on Lake Superior. Should make a nice conversation piece in the lodge.

Excellent segmented turning. That's a seriously large bowl to keep steady while turning, and the result turned out great. I've never tried to do any segmented pieces… keeping everything aligned seems so daunting.

That is one mighty fine bowl, both in looks and craftsmanship. The wood colors are also fantastic as is the design.

Segmented woodturners are just outrageous. They glue up hundreds of pieces, then rings, then mount on a fast turning lathe. What guts you have. Your planning and determination a most evident in this fine turning. This turning is a visible description of patience.
