Project Information

Okay okay, I know…Texas A&M colors are maroon and white but this is what an Aggie fan ordered and who am I to argue? :)

The silver glass inlay really snaps, crackles and pops! When outdoors in the sunlight the glass is super brilliant and looks like it's battery operated…lol. Purpleheart is not one of my favorite woods but it bends very well and is strong.

Hope ya'll like it.

Whats not to like Shannon, it's absolutely beautiful. The glass really does sparkle like little lights. As for being the correct colour…well the client is always correct. Another awesome ring to your collection of past beauties.

Your work is exquisite. Somehow the purple doesn't show up well on my iPad, but it doesn't matter because the customer is always right. As long as the "fan" is happy you've succeeded.

Thanks guys! Yes, in the end what is important is the customer is happy. Guess I need to now make a rival University of Texas Longhorns ring now huh? Their colors are burnt orange and white so maybe African Padauk mixed with Mother of Pearl? Any other burnt orange woods out there? I am drawing a blank.

BobWemm - This ring is made with very thin cuts of purpleheart (approx. 1/32"-1/64") overlapping one another creating a very durable bentwood ring that will not break.

Thanks. I appreciate all your feedback.

CA glue bonds and finishes the thin veneers.

jib - Thank YEW sir! :) I will look into using the yew wood for that burnt orange effect.

SisQMark - Thanks. Yes, it is durable. The purple heart dulled my tools quick and I used more sandpaper.

Ken - Thank you.

JR_Dog - Thanks again for checking out my project and all the help along the way. Much obliged as we say here in Texas…while wearing "ten gallon" hats on our horses watching the tumbleweed roll by…lol.

MAX - Appreciate your feedback!

Beautiful Shannon! About the UT ring, have you tried staining the padauk wood to achieve a burnt orange color?

Great work as always! I like working with purpleheart actually. It's easy to work with and I like the color. Go Longhorns.

ThemBones - TY. Usually I want to just seal the wood to display it's natural color but great idea on UT color.

MrFid - Thanks! Nice to know a Longhorn fan in Mass.

Vince - Thanks again Vince.
