Project Information

This box was made for a friend that wanted something to put his plastic ware in because the carboard box it came in was not sturdy enough, this is 1/2" Red Oak, finish is rattle can lacquer, it is about 20" long by 9 1/2" wide and about 9" tall,
it is made for the longer plastic ware which is separated in the bottom, while the top is for napkins, the top is wide enough for 3 napkins wide, the handle rests on the table top when opened, keeping it level with the bottom. the top is Oak and Maple laminated for strength. the Ibox was used to make the box joints.

Nice work Smitty

I like the nice finishing touch on the divider edge, that sets it of nicely.

I also spent a few minutes checking out why there was a variation in the lid and frame finger joints and wondered what your reason for doing it like that was?

The joints look very good and the difference is certainly an eye catcher!

I like the unequal spacing on the box joints and that handle design is super!

robscastle, the reason for the different spacing is on the ibox jig in order to have a symmetrical spacing the boards have to be a certain width with a given size kerf, the size of the lid would not work out for me the way I wanted it. so the odd size pin.
