Project Information
I've been wanting to try some pepper mills. These are my first.
They are using the Crush Grind Ceramic Mills. These can grind peppercorns, salt and spices.
I did a few things different than the PDF. I made the base fit up into the top, instead of being flush together. To do that I drilled a hole, 1/4" deep, slightly larger than the diameter of the neck of the bottom piece.
To have something to hold onto when carving and burning the top of the morel, I drilled 2 additional holes after following the PDF. The first is for the wooden shaft, the second is for the screw that goes through the shaft and screws into the workpiece.
I made 2 jigs to help out. I thought it would help to keep the grinder shaft centered when installing the mechanism. It's not really needed for that, but it is the right length to mark where to cut the shaft if you don't use the full length.
This one gives me something to hold when applying finish.
Various woods, Minwax Polycrylic water base finish.
