This is a carving done with a CNC machine of the famous photograph:

Skeeters Branch Newsies: 1910

This was made with the help of StippleGen 2 by Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories.
http://www.evilmadscientist.com/2012/stipplegen2/
A program that can generate stipple diagrams and "TSP path" art from images, using Adrian Secord's algorithm of weighted Voronoi stippling.

The advantage of this method of creating a stipple image is the image is weighed with various size holes and creates much more depth and contrast.

More than 2500 stipples.
12.5 Inches by 10 Inches.

Interesting concept. How do you paint? Do you first paint with black, then white and sand through to the black? Or do you paint the white (or seal the bare wood) and then roll the black on?

The carving is first painted black then sanded then machined on the CNC. The white you see is bare baltic birch.

I'm looking at making a similar piece of art for myself. If you don't mind, how did you turn the SVG file from StippleGen into the G code for the router? Did you just have it cut all those circles at the same depth, or is each dot a plunge with a V bit? If so, did you have to set the depth individually?

Feel free to private message me.

Thanks for the help!
