Project Information

I haven't posted in a while, but have completed a couple of more rustic type projects, one of which is this coffee table. This was built almost completely from discarded lumber. The top is part of an old door or something. The legs are posts out of a barn deconstruction.

About 1/2way through, I decided to leave the gray/weathered boards as is….just lightly sanding and smoothing the edges. The result is that it has a rough feel and look, but gives off this welcoming, comfortable vibe. In the end I was glad I didn't sand out the finish. You may notice one block area on the front edge where the color doesn't match. I realized this after I took the photos, and have since gone back and used a small amount of watered down black paint on a towel, which blended in perfectly.

2 drawers are from an old printers cabinet and are very deep, each containing many divided sections inside which would have held the printer's blocks I'm assuming.

I'm happy with the project, it turned out very solid, functional, and looks great in a living room setting.

Thanks Monte…I just checked out your work. man you have alot of projects completed, that is great. Very much like the breakfast table and nightstand w/drawer. What is that reddish type stain? curious how you acheived that.

Very nice use of reclaimed wood. Rustic is"in" now, many furniture stores selling this for a premium. Nice looking table, enjoy using it.

Thanks for all the feedback I appreciate it. this was probably the most rustic thing I've ever built so I decided to just go with it. The couple who bought it loved it and said they wouldn't change a thing. I was actually very reluctant to sell this because it would be next to impossible to duplicate.
