Project Information

I just finished another fan plane that was an custom order from people seeing the last one which was sold in my gallery moving and oscillating like a soaring eagle flight. This one was make from an a couple of vintage rulers . The difference from this one and the last one is I took the time to stripe all the old paint from the metal motor casing and welded the fuselage together with 3/16'' metal rods for a lighter look. This is clearly the best one for with out the paint it looks truly vintage . I then used the same welded fuselage on a small desk top model but it has no wood on it. The new owners of the large plane are both pilots who were amazed at the oscillation of the whole piece. All this an Heaven too.

Really nice job, this project embodies two my passions. Woodworking and fans.

You might wish to check out the Antique Fan Collectors Associtation a group I started back in 1989. They would love to see your work and would be great resource.

Very cool idea, especially during this season. Those sickle teeth bars add a bit of weight to the fan, did you
rework the oscillating system to support them, or are those older fans strong enough to take the weight.
As usual, your unique ideas and skill produce wonderful projects, really like the looks of those airplanes.

Very cool! (pun intended)

I'm thinking you need to have a rather large room for this to really be effective in.

Thanks for sharing
