Before you have lumber, you need to make timber.

Not all wood comes from the hardware store or sawmill, some wood comes from your front lawn.

We are freeing the caught-up 80 foot white oak inclined tree that came down in a storm. We are endeavoring to bring it to the ground safely.

One cut down. Almost to the ground now.

After we get it fully to the ground and bucked then we will be slabbing it out with the ganberg alaskan sawmill.

We get an average of three trees down a year in our wooded lot. The eighty foot white oak is extraordinarily big for wind felled. So we are trying to get together enough infrastructure to process the wood.

Cheers!

Looks like a big job cutting the tree into usable lumber. The person cutting is sure going to need time for this project. Wow, big tree.

Enough playing around, now lets make some lumber.

So after playing around with the Alaskan saw mill, using the chainsaw, I saw that I wanted to do this, but that was just too slow. So we upped our game and got the Norwood HD36 bandmill. The link below is my first video on using the 36 inch Bandmill (13 foot bed).

I am neither good at making videos, nor am I very good as a sawyer. But I am having a great time.
