Wooden Action Figures Part 2
For the longest time, I've wanted to figure out a toy design that would be easy to put together, last a while, and still have some appeal to adults as well as kids. I finally figured it out: Wooden action figures! Okay, they're really dolls, but only if girls play with them. All of them are hand-painted. I'm planning on giving some away for gifts, and selling the more generic ones. In addition, My wife and I are pregnant, so this will give me lots of practice to make some for the little girl/boy we're having.
The figures are about 7 inches tall (Chewbacca is almost 9") The head and hands are all pinned in place (so as not to be broken off and swallowed). All paint is non-toxic, as well as the shellac used to seal them. My thought is that these can be played with in the dirt and mud, and you don't have to worry about losing the tiny plastic parts or ruining the movement components of action figures now-a-days. Just hose off the fig when the kids are done playing. Plus, the paint will slowly fade with play and time, giving the figures an antique, much-loved(aka worn) look to them.
This second batch includes Chewbacca, a Stormtrooper, a Pirate, Oscar the Grouch, and Super Grover.
