Project Information

Here's another of Chris Hammack's bar buddies roughouts. I started this and got it pretty much finished on my day with Chris at the last Renegade Roundup. These fellows are pretty challenging with all the details that he puts in them. I'm finally getting caught up enough to paint the ones I worked on while there…..but haven't even started carving on all the extras I bought! Really enjoyed myself and learned a lot! This old fella resembles a guy I used to know..you can almost read his mind when you look at him. Thanks for looking!

That is awesome. I really like it - but that smoking is going to stunt his growth :)

Nice Carving
Like the title of the project: Reminds me of a country song by Mary Chapin Carpenter "The Bug"

Chorus is
Sometimes you're the windshield
Sometimes you're the bug

Your carving is unbelievably delightful. You are improving with every piece that you do and are now, no doubt, a professional. I look forward to seeing everything that you post. God Bless and may you always be happy and prosperous in your work.

looks like a fella with lots stories to tell. There are so many nice details to look at. The expression, the cigarette the worn looking denim shirt and even the leather gloves. That is another great carving.

The longer I look at him,
the more it feels like he's about to spit,
and say, "What're you lookin' at?!"

Great Job Mike!

Looks like the old man at branding time taking his smoke break, and waiting for the sun to finish warming up
his joints and muscles. Can almost hear him telling us how to handle that long yearling we missed last year, and
how to barbeque his rocky mountain oysters over the branding fire. Also muttering about that long handle on
the old calf chute that thumped him when he did not move fast enough. Thank you for sharing.
