Project Information
This is my shooting board. I based it mostly from what I seen on Derek Cohen's site.
I started with a 16×15 piece of 3/4" Melamine and screwed a 14×15 piece of 5/8" MDF to the top leaving a 2-1/4" ledge for the plane to slide once the trim was installed. On the underside I put a piece of walnut in a dado to hook on the bench then wrapped everything in walnut to make it pretty. The fence is another piece of walnut fastened down with some nuts and bolts so that it's adjustable for fine tuning. For a finish I wiped on a few coats of Danish oil to bring out the grain and add a bit of protection.
