Thank you

Did you mill and dry the apple wood yourself?

yes, I harvest wood for my shipmodeling projects (pear, apple, cherry etc.), but sometimes I find some very figured wood like the maple used for this box and keep it for other kind of works.

Very nice! I like the spalting on the wood. Will it fit into the hold on your ship???

Looks great. I especially like the way you matched the grain on the sides. Boxes can be addictive!!!

Thanks Jeffry and Richard

I especially like the way you matched the grain on the sides

I got the match on three sides only since I made it from a single board, but using 2 boards one can get easily 2 mirrored matches (I will probably do this with the next one).

Nice job! I love the spalted/ quartersawn maple. I don't know why more people don't quartersaw maple as it can have some wonderful figure (like qs sycamore)

Pretty box.
Clean and simple, a relaxing departure from life before the mast on the Man-o-war.

Thanks to all

gfadvm, I quartersaw most of my wood since I have been told that is more stable; stability is a very critical factor for a ship model made of hundreds of small pieces glued together.
