Project Information

I just finished another strumstick, this time with a piece of bubinga which was mostly sapwood and sent to me as packing material in some guitar sets I bought a few years ago. You just see a few flashes of the pink that bubinga is known for. The fretboard is a piece of tulipwood, split and bookmatched.

The nice thing with these instruments is they use very little material so its easy to use up small bits of leftover exotics. An example of this is the back which is nicely figured Koa which was an offcut from a guitar I made a few years ago.

The nut is water buffalo horn and the bridge and stringbreak are ebony, made from a piece I have been cutting little slices off for years.

These are fun instruments to play for even non-musicians. I asked my son to put together a video for a young guy that one of these was given to as a gift. A few folks asked me to post it - The video.

Earlier I posted a blog which was updated from my own blog on a previous one of these I had made.

Thanks for reading.
