Project Information
I had a couple come in with an old aluminum table frame, the kind with a glass top. The glass had broken, so they asked if I would take some old scrap wood a build a new top for this frame. So they came back with a load of old wood which just happened to be the remains of an old cistern that was on their property.
Once I sorted all the pieces I figured out what I had and told them there was NO WAY I was going to put this on some cheap metal frame.
I happened to have a few old porch posts for legs and so I set to work on this. While it was in the shop being put together I had several visitors stopping by wondering what in the world this was going to end up looking like.
One of these visitors stopped in just after I completed the finishing of the top and offered a sizeable sum for the table which wasn't for sale in the first place, they made me smile, and wishing I had more of these old cistern bottoms laying around.
Needless to say the owners of this project were blown away with the completed table, its about 5 feet in diameter, plenty of room for their family gatherings.
