Project Information

I was drawn to this piece because of the pure simplicity. The moldings and bead details on the top add some pizazz, but the beauty is in the simple lines. Easy to build. Shelves are dadoed in and the back is shiplapped. All cherry with white oak pegs in the mortise and tenons. Non-mortise hinges. 2/3 oil poly, 1/3 mineral spirits ragged-on. Several coats; it builds slowly.

You done a nice job both on the construction and the finish. The glow of the cherry has already appeared and it will only progress with time.

Very well done Sam and a simply beautiful piece. I can see what a fine job you did with the consistent reveal around the door too, the dot over the i.

Well done…some of the best projects are not overly complicated. I like it…..and thanks for not covering it in milk paint and then sanding and beating the crap out of it to make it look old. Classic is good.

Saved as one of my favorites. Cherry is a beautiful wood, and your design and lines are classic. Also love your choice of finish.

That being said, I like milk paint just fine on pine :)

You did a fantastic job. You say simple, but simple is not easy. It takes some skill to pull off simple.
