Project Information
I had a lot of small scrap pieces left over from other projects and didn't want to waste it all so I decided to make an Edge Grain table top out of it. Its made from Walnut, Hickory, Hackberry, Oak, Maple and Cherry. I started by cutting planing everything to 3/4 thick and ripping it to 1 1/4. I cut pieces to random sizes from 12 to 32 inches long. When it came to assembling I just randomly placed pieces to avoid any patterns. When finished I realized it was to "busy" so I took a 1/4 thick piece of maple and placed it between every two lines to break it up a little. It ended up almost 26×63 and I cut it down to appx 22×48 and sanded it down to 240grit. It is finished with 5 coats of Glossy Polyurethane.
