Working away...
It's been a while since I posted anything! I started a new job a couple of months ago and other things have taken a back seat.
I got back down into the workshop last weekend after a trip to Lee Valley and a find on the local classifieds. I picked up a few small tools-a chisel and a dovetail saw, most notably-at the former and a 10-year-old Craftsman router at the latter.
The router works well but sorely needs some new bits. I haven't had much occasion to play with it yet, though.
I've been spending more time trying to learn to cut dovetails, with middling success. At this point I am getting the cuts okay, but when I chisel out the waste between the tails I don't seem to get anywhere. I've been learning from John Bullar's excellent Youtube videos, and he just makes it look easy! I can't seem to get through the wood with my chisel, though. I don't know if it is too dull, or the wrong shape, or if I'm just inept. Anyway, I guess it is all a learning experience.
