Project Information

I made these for friends at work using walnut, oak, and maple. The tea lights were purchased at Sam's Club.

Since I had to make about 20 sets, I started by gluing up 3' lengths of each style, ran them through my planer and jointer to get the square shape, then rounded over the edges on my router table. I then cut them to length and drilled a hole for the tea lights. Finish was Danish oil.

Beautiful gifts, and thank you for the construction instructions; I plan on making a few.
Also, nice that we share the same favorite scripture. All success and blessings in your 2013 woodworking ventures!

These are simple but beautiful. By the way, what did you use to cut the holes? I'd like to make some.

Thanks for the nice comments! To answer docspencer's question, i used a Forstner bit for drilling the holes. The diameter is matched to the battery operated candles, which in my case required a 1.5" diameter bit. It creates a nice, smooth-walled, flat-bottomed hole for the candles.
