Project Information
Got all of this oak flooring out of the trash so it's time to put some to use.
Mitered joints with walnut splines, or as I like to call them, "table saw boxes". 2 coats of danish oil to finish it off.
Boxguy if you read this, I was able to get continuous grain on 3 sides following your advice, but didnt undercut my 45's. Im going to try that next time around to compare. I also didn't throw the roundover on the corners this time because the stock itself is something like 3/16ths and I was worried Id blow out the corner. Im planning on doing another splined miter out of some wood I laminated into stripes, Im hoping to get a neat negative effect with the splines, and Ill be rounding those over. Obviously this will be done with thicker wood. That should help get a nice long spline in there too.
Any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated.
