Project Information

This project is a toybox made from a dying cherry tree from my yard and a maple log I got from the tree service when they came to cut down the tree. The lid butterflies are made from purpleheart, padauk, and redheart. Each of interior sides have butterflies of redheart, purpleheatrt, padauk, and curly walnut. Hinges are nickel finish torsion hinges; the rest of the hardware is brass. The dimensions of the box are 34" long x 24" deep x 20" tall.

Thanks for looking!

Great job on the toy box. I love nice wood combos and you can't go wrong with cherry and maple. Very nice touch with the butterflies too!!

Thanks for the comments. The hardest part (aside from assembling the miters together properly on such a big box) was knowing that it was going to be subject to some abuse after completion :)

Nice job on the box. Only wish you had used Two Hinges and not Four. Two hinges would have worked great. I've used them on Four projects…..they are super. Happy wood working in the future.
