Project Information
When my church first mentioned going to a projection system for the song lyrics during the second service my brain started trying to design a stand for the projector and laptop. At first I only came up with some kind of cart that would fit in the pew. After a while this design dawned on me.
What you see is an LCD projector stand that hooks onto the modesty rail before the first pew. An element runs down the back and supports a folding desk on which a laptop will fit. When the stand is not in use (one of our services is traditional, the other contemporary,) the desk folds up and out of the way. The stand rotates to allow proper aiming of the projector, but I made allowance for tightening the bolt that hold the stand to the hook by means of a nut embedded in a piece of wood (therefore, no tools required.)
The whole piece was constructed of new good quality pine and finished with dark oak stain to match the decor of our church and thus be nearly invisible. The hook is felt lined to avoid scratching the woodwork. This piece is very hard to photograph, so I hope the pictures clear things up.
