i was attempting another board from steve but the miters are not tight. My ridgid ts 2400 kept bogging down and shutting off..i need new a saw i guest.( a little slippage as you can see)
It looks pretty awesome in the pictures… You might just need a new blade or dry spray lubricant. I bought some new frued blades a while back and it was like night and day.. also, pb blaster has a dry spray lube, spray the table top and the blade and it will be good. Nice work though!!!
Thanks fellas, I bought a freud ripping blade and Irwin fifty tooth combo blade. They appear to be a bit wobbly and so, I think the arbor might be bent
Nice job. Your self critique reminds me of a friend's comment on wallpapering. It was pointed out that when you're actually doing the wallpaper, every small mistake screams "you did it wrong, it doesn't match." But, after a week or so all these "mistakes" disappear and the job looks great. I've found this applies equally to woodworking projects.
Wow, Look at that, the joints don't line up You will always see the flaws. Most people that look at this are not woodworkers and the flaws will never be seen. I think it looks great. If you know what went wrong Don't make another one until you can correct the problem then try again. I have been there I know the feeling.
The project is beautiful. When I looked closer at your piece, I noticed that some of the mismatch, or poor miters you are talking about may be due to thichness differnces. I have problems occationally with this even though I don't change my setting on the planer, I will notice a little difference in the thickness of the boards when I plane multible pieces. I'm not sure the reason for this but I suspect dencity is a factor. Never the less what I found to help was to run my wood through the last setting two our three times flipping the boards on each pass. As for bogging down your planer (I had one of these) take very shallow passes and check the sharpness of your blades. Also, I use a paste wax to keep my planer beds slick, it is amazing how much difference these little things can make.
