Project Information

This piece I made about 2 years ago while In Naples Florida for A client of mine. I moved to Black Mountain ,NC before I got to see it done with the granite counter top. I seam To be not able to find a photo that they sent me of it but I do have a few shots of it . It has radius ends that were all built in a form and laminated fron1/8th" strips and were cut out of a solid piece of 8/4! The apron was also about 8 " wide so that did add to the difficulty of the piece.

521 views and no comments? I love the piece. It seems like with almost all Purple Heart projects, it can be over done, but I do like this one, it just works.

I swore off using purpleheart after just one project! It's just so dag-gone HARD! (Although I may make a smoothing plane with the scraps i still have)

Great piece with the sharp looking purple in it. Have the clients said anything about it oxidizing or is it still purple?

Wow ! Thanks everyone. To answer a few questions I did a lot of research with with finishing purple heart and the way I finished it was with a water base Vermont Natural Coatings finish. If you have never used it before it is a dream and has like no smell at all. I have been working with them for years and if you live in an area with high humidity try vnc. I would have heard from the Interior designer by now if it did start to oxidize because the cabinet company that finished the built it dry bar had that problem before I delivered my piece.
Thanks again everyone.
