Project Information

Ever so often my creativity twist like a burl in a tree reinventing the wheel of new idea's based on things I see and feel. "Growth rings of emotion came from a visit to Santa Fe galleries. In this case metallic finishes from "Steam punk" sculpture an industrial sculpture was the journey . I took two old pillow blocks and turned a 30'' disk with a turned center hub for the pillow blocks to hold the piece. I then attatched the disk and hub together with old quilted walnut cambian layer of the tree. Dead walnut trees rot from the inside out leaving only the outside layer . This is what I used but was quilted. I then made a pillow block stand so the sculpture would rotate. I then used a new finish I invented using metal and copper flakes polychromed . I put reactive acid on the finish for the warm colors. The base has the same finish but was painted then ground smooth and acid wash to achieve a warm black look. I bounced the idea's off several creative wise men and they said I was going to be a painter now.
Strange how idea's shift the mindset to other techniques. All this and Heaven too.

Not something I would ever think of building, but once seeing it, would just set there and look and be
mesmerized for quite a while. You do have a very distinctive perception of the world and I like the way you
bring that view into reality. Thank you once again for sharing.

WOW! Beautiful, Dan… one I added as a 'favorite.' I love the textural aspect of it!

I think you've done M. Duschamp one better…. LOL
