Project Information

Carmella is primarily constructed of Cherry. The feature ring is a mixture of Maple, Bloodwood, Brazilian Cherry and Mahogany. There are 156 segments used to create Carmella. I applied 8 coats of tung oil and 3 coats of paste wax for a finish. The interior is finished with two coats of ebony stain and two coats of tung oil. Carmella is approx 6"x6".

Thank you very much rmoore, loucarb, peteg, moonls, jim jakosh, woodshaver and matt garcia!

Gary - I hope to have a lot more in the near future! :)

lew - the bottom treatment is my adaptation of the floating bottom by Malcolm Tibbets. In my version I use two pieces of veneer.

Napaman - I've put together a tutorial of sorts on the bottle stoppers I've done in the past. I'm still tweaking my technique on the vessels, but once I nail that down I imagine a tutorial would be doable.

Thanks again everyone :)
