Glad to hear you are getting your son involved. I believe that the scrollsaw is the perfect tool for kids to start with because they can learn it fast and they can make so many nice and different types of projects with it. Both my grandsons 15 and 13 years old do Christmas projects in my shop every year and they really look forward to it.

Thanks Stefang, yeah,I know life can really slow things down in the shop. With all the things going on from the day to day.Getting out in the shop can be difficult.I usally go after,I get done with my day job.I really enjoy my Excalibur EX-30.this saw was well worth the money,I paid for it.I don't feel so limited to small projects anymore.I gave my son the Dremel 1800 to get started. He's 12 and loves the hobby.Ive been thinking of doing some intarsia again.Ive been tryin to come up with a way to get the same effect in intarsia that,I do in my scrollsaw paintings.I haven't got it yet lol…Photoshop is tricky to learn. But the way,I learned was just toyin around with all the features.I still use my drawing skills alot anyways.I think its really a mix of the both techniques..If you study a real color picture. You can see where all the highlights and shadows are…What you can do is take a pencil and draw where all those highlights and shadows are and those areas will be your cuttout pieces in the pattern.Tryng to find out what color color to use is up to you. Thanks again Stefang.

You have the same saw as mine Rick. I really treasure it. Too bad it's better than me, but I am trying to catch up with it. I really like what you are doing and that it looks totally original to me. I am sticking with the intarsia for the time being as I love the 3D effect. I'm new to it, but I am tired of looking at the repetitious work based on purchased plans, many of which are very beautifully done, but rather boring after seeing 100 copies. So my desire is to create some original works. I will probably trace them on my light table from photos, etc. which works well for me, especially because my Photoshop skills are pretty limited, well….......non-existent actually. It is good to see you doing something different and wonderful at the same time. Keep up the good work!
