Project Information

Chiropractic Cervical Chair. Made of pine (underneath fabric), BCX plywood, and oak legs and supports. The hinged mechanism on the back allows for the backrest to be set at different reclining angles, or to be completely lowered to the floor. All upholstery was done by me as well. Thanks for looking!

Is anyone interested in seeing a video/picture blog on how to do upholstery like this? I've tinkered with the thought of doing something like this. Its not technically woodworking, but is a good skill to have to go along with your woodworking….

Nice chair Doug! You're pretty good at upholstery!
I wished you lived closer. I have a leather hide that would make a nice chair covering!!

Good job. I bet all your fellow class mates are bugging you to make them adjusting chairs and KtoC tables as well. Remember to protect those hands!

Nice chair, I would be interested in some how to on upholstery. I'm building a chair now that has an upholstered seat. My backs a little stiff this morning after a whole day on the workshop yesterday, maybe also a blog on back care for woodworkers!

Cracknpop - yeah I've made about 8 of them so far for fellow students! I charge $200 for each chair. Pretty fair price considering a Gonstead of Thomas chairs are $350+. I've been asked several times to do a Knee/Chest but I said no…too much work and I dont have time. I also make a portable pelvic bench for $325.

Nice chair Dakremer! That's a good skill set to combine woodworking with your
chiropractic profession, may you have continued success in both.

Hello Dakremer,

I just recently graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport on Feb 21! I am wanting to build a cervical chair like this one for my practice, I was wondering if you shared these plans or had them available for purchase, as a new grad I am on a tight budget and am willing to tackle the project. Please let me know if you can help. Your work is amazing! Thank you!

Hey Neurodip - congrats on graduating! I graduated from Palmer a trimester ahead of you! I don't have any plans for sale. I used to sell these to fellow students, while I was still in school. So I'm not exactly sure I want to give away my plans - As I might still sell chairs in the future. I might be willing to sell some plans to you, I would have to think about it, and draw some up for you. What would you want to pay for some plans? Or you if you want to figure it out on your own, I will help any way I can! They aren't too bad to build, when you have the basic structure down. Let me know!
