Project Information
HEY LOOK WHOsE BACK!!!!!!
I've been busy GOOFING OFF doing some projects and making some mistakes.
These Scratch Awls are a byproduct of one such mistake. ( Lew, you will appreciate this). While making some Celtic knot pins, one of the blanks slipped in the sled, offsetting one of the inlays. (&^%%*). Not wanting to waste any wood, like most of us, I cut both ends off (Tiger Maple) to make two awls. That left me with the crossed centerof the rolling pin. I cut it in half, approx. 4" long ea.
As you can see in the photos, I got some interesting patterns.I had no idea what would get. The one on the right that looks like a balloonis from the end of the knot. The one on the left is from the center of the cross. Pict #1
& #2. Picts #3 & #4show the tops Pict #5 shows their relationship to Celtic Knot Pin. they are finished with Danish Oil.
If you have a copy of " ShopNotes # 44, pages 28 - 30 you'll see the basic pattern for the Awls along with a material list & supplies.
See you all later,
ED
