Bigger saw

Table saws are useful for projects if you have the right saw. I own the porter cable jobsite table saw, and its a really nice, portable, Saw. But for a woodworker that uses it every day can lead to problems. First problem the runner slots in the table are five eight's in. Wide. All of the sleds and jigs that you can buy for your saw are not five eights. Which makes it very difficult to find a new miter sled. The fence is a huge problem as well. I cant find a fence on a jobsite table saw that locks in straight. Mine has so much play in it that its inpossible to lock in it straight. I dont get the point that you have all of these issues in a saw like this.

So im upgrading to a hybrid saw. Ive used almost all of the hybrid saws and the one I am thinking about buying is either the Masterforce table saw from menards listed at $599 US dollars. Or the Rigid hybrid table saw from home depot listed at $499 US dollars. Im leaning to the masterforce table saw but Ive had alot of rigid tools and they are still working great.

Which one would you buy?

I'm so happy to see a young man enjoying woodworking. I have never seen a master force table saw but I have seen an used a few ridgid table saws and I think they are a lot of saw for the money . I think it's very important that a table saw have a good fence. Another thing you might think about is if you use a Harbor freight 20 percent off coupon at home depot you can get the Ridgid table saw for $ 424. Good luck with which every saw you select.

AJ, in my area, the Masterforce saw you are talking about is on sale for $499. Not sure if it's the same in your town, but it might be worth checking out right now. The Masterforce and Ridgid are the same saw (maybe a SLIGHT difference) and most likely made in the same factory. There's a Craftsman one that is also the exact same, and around the same price point. I plan on getting the Ridgid as soon as my budget allows.

Not sure if you're still looking for a saw but I've had great luck buying barely used equipment from yard sales, craigslist, ebay, and auctions. I don't have many pcs of machinery that I purchased new (Rikon bandsaw, Clearview dust collector, DJ20 jointer, planer, multi-router). I typically spend 30%-50% of the new price and the tools usually come with accessories that I didn't plan on getting with the deal.

Just a thought.
