Project Information

The miter saw station is almost done so I thought I would post some photos.

Photo 1 shows the finished, well almost finished, project. The two 1/4 in side panels on each side of the saw can be removed for large angle compound cuts, the saw can also slide out for these cuts as needed.

Photo 2 shows the dust collection for the saw. I used a hole saw to cut the holes into the 6 in vacuum pipe.

Photo 3 shows the backing for the laminate that I used in back of the saw.

Photo 4 shows a clamp to hold the saw in position. This is all the way back.

Photo 5 shows the saw all the way forward when making large angle compound cuts.

Photo 6 shows the curve of the laminate from the side without the 1/4 in side panels in place with the saw all the way back. The laminate is just screwed on, makes it easer to remove if need be. I am sure that 90% plus of my cuts will be in this position.

Left to do, drawers, top on cabinets on each side of the saw station, an extended fence on each side of the saw.

Now that is a slick dust collecting solution. I just spray the dust all over my garage.

How well does the dust collection work? I'm going to be building a miter saw station sometime in the next 1-2 months hopefully.

That is a very nice hood for the sae. Your dust collection idea using the 6 " pipe is pretty cool.

Very cool, I envy that saw. Have you used it much? What are your thoughts on it? Accurate, repeatable, does the mechanism stay true? I'd love to get rid of my twin rail jammy for one of those, the space savings is incredible. Well done! How is the d.c. on that saw?

Looks like a lot of thought and work went into this as in most of your projects. Keep it going….................

That's a great idea, especially for the dust collection! My Bosch sits on one of those mobile stands but, since it stays in one place, I could incorporate the hood and pipe idea behind it. Thanks for posting!

Great work. I can't do that because my saw is set up on a collapsable unit so I can take it with me. I haven't got a slide miter saw. Mine is an old 12" DeWalt.

I too, like chopnhack would like to know how you feel about the saw. I really dig the station and have been working on the plans for my own. I will likely use some of your ideas if you don't mind. But I would like to get rid of this old dewalt for something with more capacity and I am really into the design of the Bosch. Thoughts after using it?

Great job! Dig that saw too. Now, how do I wear out my old P-C chop saw so I can justify that Bosch… hmmm… I'm thinking, I'm thinking…

always,
J.C.
