Project Information

A contemporary slab wood table. This project was inspired by a piece my wife and I saw at the 2011 Parade of Homes here in Utah. My version is a lot smaller (33" tall, 10" deep and 25" long).

The right leg is of figured gum; the left leg is a hollow square aluminum post.

The top appears to be wavy but that's the natural shimmer of the wood (I don't know the species)...it's actually smooth as glass (after a lot of sanding and four coats of gloss polyurethane).

Your right, the top does appear rough cut. Unusual legs. Type of wood? Nice finish….................

@redryder: Don't know what kind of wood the slab is. I "think" maple, but I don't know….

beautiful choice of wood! Is the table sturdy? I would be afraid of it tipping over with the small legs.

sweet little table I like the rustic design on this surprisingly as I am not usually a fan of rustic furniture but this is just using a waney edge but this is truly nice. Alistair

I LOVE this - fun, funky and off beat - the table top is just beautiful! We have a tree here in OZ called a Sliky Oak - the timber is quite similar - you must be wrapped!
