Project Information

These photos were taken in Kuwait while I was deployed in 2011. It's a keepsake box I made for my 5 year old daughter for Christmas. It's made from walnut and maple which are two of my favorite contrasting species of woods. I designed this box on the fly which features spline miter joints, sliding dovetail lid, and a heart inlay. I covered the bottom of the box with felt as well as floated it to allow for expansion. I finished it with mineral oil due to limited resources, but it turned out fairly well and was a fun build. You can also view my project here.
