I cut the parts for him from pine. If you look closely at the picture, you can see that I also drilled pilot holes for the nails. This will help to guide the nails in straight.
What a memory for all of you !! It put a smile on my face and my wife's also. They did a great job. I think
"wed" is an excellent color. Lol.
Thanks for sharing. Great video.!
i did a similar thing with a birdhouse that my 3yr old son could put together with my wife on mothers day - as a way for her to spend qt with him. worked out great.
I purchased a quart of Rust-oleum red latex paint and a foam brush. Today, he painted it "wed". I let him paint the whole thing. I just went behind him and smoothed the runs.
Stephenw, I think you're doing great things as a dad by bringing your kids into the shop, and allowing them to do these things without an enormous amount of help. They'll learn so much by doing it themselves.
My dad used to do similar things, letting he help drive nails, helping measure, and giving me the freedom to do it without instruction. I did get a lot of cuts and hurt fingers but that's how I learned safety. Your boys are gonna be better off from what you're doing with them. Kudos to a great dad, especially as fathers day approaches.
