May, 2012-Every once in awhile I drop into my local Goodwill store. Recently I noticed a well-used kitchen cutting board for sale for $4.99. It seemed plenty large enough to make a nice band saw box!
First task was to cut it into thirds the long way on the table saw. Then run those pieces through the planer. Then cut each of those pieces in half. Then glue them up into a block made from six boards.
The design is straight forward, with the band saw cut-in starting from the lower left, with each cut ending at the point on the upper right of each drawer. The face of this box was also cut into a wave shape, to give it some more interest (see last photo).
It is sanded to 220 and finished with tung oil.
