Project Information

Last week Robert Triplett was over and brought me this cool piece of wood. I did not want to cut it up because it had a nice shape so yesterday I desided to make a wine bottle stand out of it. When I looked at the top I think it looks like a terrors head but Laura thinks it looks like a bull dogs head. Either way it looks like a dogs head. It stands 3' 10" and is 10" at the wides point. Holds six bottles of wine. I figured this was the best way to show off the wood. I am not sure what kind of wood it is hopefully Robert will stop bye and answer that for us.
Thanks for stopping Bye Dennis

Very nice. And you are right….the top does look like a dogs head. Nice to have a friend that gives out wood like that.

You were right leaving the shape that way. I was wondering if it still balances if you take out some of the bottles.

Don there is a brace on the back so you can take out any of the wine bottles or all.

Dennis, good use of the wood. I thought you might cut it up into a few bottle holders, but you were right to leave it whole. I believe it is Cascara, from Oregon. A friend gave it to me last year and I had stuck it behind some other wood. Glad you could use it.

That looks good Dennis, you made the right choice, not cutting it up. If I lived closer I would come over and help you and Laura empty it, LOL

Way cool! I have something similar I've had on the back shelf for quite some time…maybe you have inspired me to finish it. Thanks for sharing.
