Project Information

We all get called upon to just plain fix this or that, right? And I take it as a monitory compliment but for friends I cheat a bit. This Phone settee? Came in needing a new top. The original was warped and nothing I tried would make it flat again so find some wood to look good that I have. Brazilian Cherry!!!
How to router the groove for the curved ply sides? Router table yey!
The chair? was climbed upon by 5 yr grandson and fell apart. So my neighbor brought it to me to fix.
I gave up on the original top and made what you see here. Minwax early american stain and then Teak oil.
The owner put this in the trash and will flip when he sees this. He and his wife bought this together many years ago and now that she has passed, not to mention that he has cancer, I hope to make someone's day with this project.
This kind of project means a lot to me.
I'm valuable, I am needed and I can give!
I have a life, and wood working is a huge part of it!
They say that I will get a few chickens for it!

Its Beautiful and a great cause, I am sorry to hear about the owners medical problems and the passing of his wife, but I am sure this will bring some joy into his life. That made this table go from beautiful to gorgeous

Studie,

You did a great job on that restoration. I have one of those that needs restoring also; not as interesting as yours though. I've always referred to it as a gossip bench.

Thanks for sharing.

That is so nice, not many people left in this world like that Studie although I do see quite a bit of it on Lumberjocks.

yes my friend you have done a wonderful thing, this is what i love about this talent that we have, to bless the lives of those around us, i would rather do something for someone then get paid money, to me that has no real value, what is real is bring a smile to someones face and a wonderful feeling in there heart…great job here…

Wow I didn't think so many would see this! I have had some Brazilian Cherry in my shop for years and with the color of the Gossip bench (love that lightweightlady!) it looked close enough. I love the way fine woods shift rays when you turn them at different angles. Some folks think I'm nuts for holding on to scrap wood but you all understand. This way it makes me able to do things for others for free without costing me much just glue, finish ect. Sometimes the exposure in what we do can come back in a good way, not that we do it for that reason.
Thanks Lumberjocks and LumberJills for your support! To have such a great family here means so much to me and just makes me want to do more. This is my life and I feel lucky to be able to work with wood! Scott.

You never give as much as when you give of yourself. Your neighbor is very blessed to have you nearby. Nice work, in every way I could mean that!

You did a fantastic job on both of those saves! Brazilian Cherry (Jatoba) is on of my favorites but yours doesn't look as red as I'm used to. (camera or stain?). This was a very giving gesture on your part and it says a lot about the kind of person you are.

Nicely done on both the quality work and the effort to help others!

It's nice to have chickens too!
